a Discerning Life offers one-to-one Supervision services to student and qualified Hypnotherapists.
SUPERVISION OUTCOMES
While the Supervisor provides guidance and suggestions through Supervision for Hypnotherapists about running a successful practice (including client cases, marketing ideas and therapist wellbeing etc.), it is important to note that she cannot be held responsible for the outcomes of decisions made based on this advice.
The information the Supervisor provides is intended for advisory purposes only and should not be construed as a guarantee of specific results.
She offers her counsel with the understanding that the ultimate responsibility for actions taken rests with the individual making those decisions.
The Supervisor’s role is to provide insights and perspectives; she does not assume liability for any consequences that may arise from their application.
While the Supervisor endeavours to provide accurate and helpful advice, she cannot accept responsibility for any losses or damages incurred as a result of its implementation.
A Discerning Life adheres to the General Hypnotherapy Register’s (GHR) Professional Code of Ethics and Practice and the Complementary Natural Healthcare Council’s (CNHC) Code of Conduct.
SESSION CONDUCT
It is the Supervisor’s responsibility to deliver the session from a location that ensures the Supervisee’s confidentiality.
It is the Supervisee’s responsibility to ensure the confidentiality and safety of the location chosen to participate in the session e.g. no public places such as shared offices or coffee shops or whilst driving i.e. free from distractions. The Supervisee will inform the Supervisor if there is anyone else present or monitoring the session.
It is the Supervisee’s responsibility to provide a confidential phone number and email address for any further communication with the Supervisor as well as a correct address of the online location (form provided by Supervisor).
Any information shared during the session e.g. documents or notes must remain confidential.
The Supervisee accepts that Zoom (or What’s app as a second option) is the means for receiving sessions. If there is a technical issue with the internet connection and consequently the session is interrupted or unmanageable then a new time with be rescheduled by text or phone.
To participate in sessions, the Supervisee must not be suffering from any diagnosed psychiatric condition, psychological illness or epilepsy and confirm that they are not under the supervision of a psychiatrist.
The Supervisee will take part in all sessions free from the influence of either alcohol or drugs.
The Supervisee will not record the session (either by sound or visual means) without prior permission from the Supervisor.
The Supervisee understands and accepts that the Supervisor may terminate the session without warning if the Supervisor should determine that the session has been booked for some purpose other than to receive supervision, and that should this occur, the Supervisee will remain liable for any session fee that may have been paid in advance.
CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
To make any changes to a scheduled session, Supervisees must give 24 hours’ notice otherwise a cancellation fee of 50% of the session fee will be charged.
The Supervisor will initiate the session at the agreed time provided that payment has been received. The Supervisor will allow 15 minutes for the Supervisee to come onto the session before signing out. Payment will not be refunded in the event of a no show.
The Supervisee accepts that Zoom is the means for receiving sessions and an invitation will be sent out. A refund will not be given.
Due to other work commitments, your Supervisor may cancel a session. If this occurs, she will offer to reschedule the session as soon as possible.
PAYMENT
Session rates are as agreed with your Supervisor and may be subject to an annual increase.
Payment is due 1 day before the session via bank transfer or PayPal to allow for bank delays. If payment is not received before the session then the session will not go ahead.
SESSION LENGTH
A session lasts an average of 1 hour (between 50 minutes and 1 hour and 15 mins). The Supervisee will ensure they allocate enough time for the session. If running late, please let the Supervisor know as soon as possible, she will do her best to accommodate a full session but this cannot be guaranteed. Curtailed sessions will attract the full session fee.
CONTACT
If you need to contact the service in-between sessions, please do this by phone during office hours Monday to Thursday 10am to 6pm and e-mail anytime. Your Supervisor will aim to respond within 24 hours where possible.
CONFIDENTIALITY
a Discerning Life maintains confidentiality in accordance with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) Code of Ethics and Complementary Natural Healthcare Council’s (CNHC) Code of Conduct.

LIABILITY INSURANCE
As required by the General Hypnotherapy Register’s (GHR) Professional Code of Ethics and the Complementary Natural Healthcare Council’s (CNHC) Code of Conduct your Supervisor holds Professional Liability Insurance with Towergate.
UK AND INTERNATIONAL ONLINE THERAPY – GOVERNING LAW CLAUSE
This agreement, and any dispute, controversy, proceedings or claim of whatever nature arising out of or in any way relating to this agreement or its formation (including any non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Scottish law, irrespective of the country in which you are based.
If you are unhappy with the Supervision you receive or with any other aspect of your contact with a Discerning Life, it may be helpful to discuss this with your Supervisor in the first instance.
