Brief Psychotherapy is an umbrella term for a variety of approaches to short-term, solution-oriented Psychotherapy.
It describes an approach that attempts to make Psychotherapy as efficient and practically helpful as possible within a short time frame.
Brief Therapy differs from other schools of therapy in that it emphasises (1) a focus on a specific problem and (2) direct, experiential intervention.
In Brief Therapy, we work proactively together as a team to create the change you want and need. It also emphasises the use of your resources as well as new ideas, concepts, skills, tools and perspectives.
Brief Therapy is often highly strategic, exploratory and solution-based rather than problem-oriented. It is less concerned with why a problem arose than with the current factors sustaining it and preventing change. Focusing on ‘how’ you generate an uncomfortable and unhelpful experience rather than ‘why’.
Brief therapists do not adhere to one ‘correct’ approach, but have a flexible personalised way of working with clients.
In sessions I will guide you through the process of how to resolve your issue so you can move from coping to thriving, be equipped to live a life you feel good about and create a future you are inspired by.

'Paula provides a safe, professional haven to her clients in moments of crisis and personal loss. I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate and empathetic psychotherapist.' Lesley (Perth)
'I can't put into words just how amazing this lady is. Paula has helped me on the most incredibly difficult journey with such a compassionate and empathetic approach. She is the most genuine, caring person and her knowledge and skill in both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy is incomparable.
Paula instantly makes you feel at ease, she never judges and always helps you find the answers you need. She gave me the strength and courage to get to where I am today. I am in a much better place and feel like a different person thanks to her invaluable help and support. Thank you so much Paula.' Heather (Dundee)
'It has been some years since I last saw Paula. At that time I was experiencing incredible difficulty coping with anxiety and depression triggered by experiences in my early life. Paula helped me more than I could have ever imagined as she gave me the tools and confidence to understand and help myself. It has stayed with me for over 10 years, allowing me to continue to grow as a person and to help me to help my own children. Not as a perfect mum, rather one who makes mistakes but can learn with her children. I don’t think I would be in the position I am in today without Paula. It is one of the most fortunate experiences of my life walking in to her clinic and saying yes to starting my journey. I also know that if I ever needed her again she would be there. Thank you Paula' Nickie (Fife)
'I came to see Paula a few years ago and particularly through what has been a challenging period for me. I was unsure how a psychotherapist was going to help but she has made an amazing difference in allowing me to reframe some of the emotional issues in my life which contributed to stress and anxiety. The process allowed me to discover and learn a lot about my own behaviour, what things made me feel trapped and how I could learn and change my behaviour and emotional response to certain family relationships which have caused me issues during my life. It was not easy, probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, but also the most liberating experience I've ever had. I can't thank her enough for her help and support in showing me how to make the changes I needed to do. I've never felt more confident and content.' Rory (Angus)
